Once we receive your carburetor we begin by inspecting it carefully to ensure there is no visible damage before we start the disassembly. Should we find any abnormalities we will contact you before we start any work.
All carburetors are assigned a work tray so that no parts go missing. There can be well over 100 parts in a simple carburetor and one missing part can be the difference between your vehicle running properly or not.
We then clean your carburetor using ultrasonic cleaning. Ultrasonic cleaning uses cavitation bubbles induced by high frequency pressure waves to agitate a liquid. These sound waves are created by a number of transducers, which are bonded to the base of the ultrasonic bath. As an electrical current is passed through the transducer crystal rings they become agitated and vibrate at around 40,000 times a second. This vibration converts the electrical energy to sound energy, which is then transferred through the base of the tank into the liquid. As the sound waves pass through the fluid, microscopic bubbles form. The agitation produces high forces on contaminants adhering to substrates like metals, plastics, glass, rubber, and ceramics. This action also penetrates blind holes, cracks, and recesses. The intention is to thoroughly remove all traces of contamination tightly adhering or embedded onto solid surfaces.
Once cleaned and inspected we start rebuilding using OEM parts when available, we avoid flimsy aftermarket products, as they are not ideal for the intricate workings of a carburetor. We can install factory stock kits or upgrade kits if available.
During assembly we rebuild your carburetor back to factory settings including checking and adjusting the float heights and air / fuel mixtures.
All carburetors are vacuum tested, properly packaged and returned to you looking and working like new.
Carburetor tuning is slowly becoming a lost art. We service marine, motorcycle and hot rod carburetors. Changes in altitude and climate can affect your engine’s performance, particularly the more intricate parts. Carburetor tuning should be adjusted twice per year, typically in the Spring and Fall.
We have tuned, cleaned, refurbished and rebuilt hundred of carburetors. We follow a rigorous process that involves completely taking the carburetors apart, cleaning them with ultrasonic cleaners, and reassembling them using only proper gaskets and parts. We can do full restoration on most carburetors bringing them back to 100% original condition. From finding the proper gaskets to machining custom replacement screws and even re-plating to an original finish, your carburetor will leave our shop in the best shape possible.
